Back from cottage.

Dirty, a bit tired, and in need of some serious laundry, but it was worth it. I ate like a king, I hiked to the top of the mountain (about *mumble* hundred feet up) in my toe shoes (which were awesome) and in the rain (which was less awesome, but still fun in its own way, which is a very damp way), swam in the lake, and didn't check anything that requires internet for 3 days (consider your journal skimmed, but for the most part, not actually read as such).

Time for a shower. Oh my yes, such a time for a shower.

I want to go have supper here

I want to take a trip to Montreal expressly for the purpose of having supper there.

O'noir is a restaurant that servers you the entire meal experience in pitch black. You get no light of any form while you are in there, and the waiters are all blind. I am incredibly intrigued.

It was a good weekend. Saturday I went to an Orpheus bbq and croquet tournament (I regrettably did not make the finals this time), I stopped in at Breathless (where I heard about o'noir), stayed up until about 4am playing on the computer, slept until almost 2pm on Sunday, did a bit of shopping, and then met people for Ethiopian food, and an evening of Chicago at the NAC.

Chicago was an excellent production. The woman playing Roxie was very short, she couldn't have been much over 5'0", but she did the role well. The dancers overall were rock solid, the voice talent ranged from very good to mind blowing. I wasn't super crazy about the guy playing Amos, he didn't sell it for me, but Mama Morton could knock your head off with the power of her voice. Yegads, what a voice.

Yes...someone went there. Yes, so did I. Now you can too.

Things to do over the next...month or so

-Go to MEC and get some camping gear
-Register for ASL level 3
-Finalize volunteer opportunities with the Ottawa Deaf Centre
-re-establish my exercise rhythm after the free time turbulence of doing the show
-get tickets for The Drowsy Chaperone
-Clean the house, top to bottom (ok, that's something for this weekend probably, the show got me a little behind here)
-run 10km

From October 14 to October 31, the NAC will be showing The Drowsy Chaperone. This was a recent broadway hit, and by all accounts, an extremely entertaining musical (a comedy, and sort of meta-theatre, with a lot of self referential humour and humour about the stereotypes of stage musicals in general).

Tickets appear to range from $35 to $70, although they don't seem to be on sale yet (maybe pezchica has more insider info...she sometimes does).

I want to see it. I'd love to see it with others. Are you interested?

My google calendar reminder email.

"You have no events scheduled for today"

Whoa! What a concept. No rehearsal, no show, my evening is my own. I wonder what I shall do with it.

I am cycling to the theatre. I haven't been cycling enough, and it's a nice medium distance. Of course that means I am cycling back around midnight (later if we go out for a drink), but have light, will travel!

2 people involved with the show (one cast, one crew) have given me a bag full of rhubarb. I have 3 tupperwares in my fridge at the moment full of stewed rhubarb. Well, when I say full, I mean one has a significant dent in it as I've been putting it in my morning smoothies, and damn, I love rhubarb.

So, if you have a rhubarb plant running away on you, I am always happy to take some off your hands.

Yesterday's show was fantastic. The crowd was on fire, not only laughing, but clapping and cheering at the slightest provocation. The last 4 nights have ranged from about 97% sold out, to 100% sold out (Tuesday), making the show a runaway success for Orpheus, even considering the walk outs we get (and we do get them), and the complaints we will get (and we will get them). All the same, 2 more shows will be enough thanks, I am getting ready to have my life back, to be able to run errands in the evening, or go to the gym, or go see a friend, or take in a movie.

Speaking of movies, Bix, Pezchica, and I saw Up last Monday. It was amazing. A superb film, not only funny, but also surprisingly touching. Go....see it....soon.

Tomorrow's theme: Take it off

Patricia the stripper is an obvious choice, but I need a clever backup

Having fun yet? :)
